For the second time, I am going to announce my obsession with this dress. The color is so STRIKING. Simply stunning. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. As they say, green is the color of temptation…….
So.. when I was at the Abi Ferrin PinkMemo FASHION DISH - Luncheon at CRAFT Restaurant in Dallas yesterday, I instantly fell in love. Abi Ferrin’s 5-Way “Nikki Top” from the SPRING/SUMMER 2009 Collection was in a similar silky green hue. It’s iridescence is breathtaking— it was love at first sight! I had to have it.
It is the closest I will ever get to the “ATONEMENT” dress, which sold on March 1st, 2008 for $46,000 at a “Clothes Off Our Back” Celebrity Clothing Auction for charity.
I tend to buy things in three’s. It could be at one place, it could be along the way to five different places, but often times I will come home with three items. Be it from the drug store or a trip to the mall, even if the final purchase is a petite tin container of Altoids, my bag tends to hold a menage-a-trois.
This evening, (possibly due to the high level of inspiration from the fantastic book I am reading- see post below), I went to the bookstore and purchased these three things. When I returned to my hotel room and emptied them onto my bed, I had to laugh! So random, but so me and “of the moment”. My moment. What can I say, spontanaiety is a basic component of my blood?
1.) ATONEMENT [dvd]

why it was nonsense: I haven’t seen Atonement.
why it was purchased: 1.) I was TOLD I’d love it by trustworthy peers. 2.) I adore Keira Knightley. 3.) Director Joe Wright, also Directed Pride & Prejudice which is MY FAVORITE MOVIE. 4.) It won an Academy Award - just has to be good then!
2.) THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY by Oscar Wilde
why it was nonsense: I knew nothing about this novel, nor had an inclining or immediate interest in the works of Oscar Wilde.
why it was purchased: I sat next to a woman on a plane a few weeks ago. I told her I was an English Writing major and she asked me if I liked Oscar Wilde (her most favorite and beloved of playwrights). When I said no, she looked as if I’d expressed I carried the H1N1 virus. I decided I should familiarize myself a.s.a.p. in case I was truly missing out! (I’ll let you know.)
3.) DEBUSSY.

why it was nonsense: you’ll see….
why it was purchased: uh-hem.. well, as a “classically trained vocalist”, I did sing the songs of Debussy as a young teenager. My vocal teacher, had me singing the likes of “Beau Soir” by Debussy, at age fifteen. However, the REAL reason, was……… I watched Twilight last week. Though clearly fictitious, I will admit I was captivated by the thought of the “modern” young male lead listening to classical music in this scene. The idea of meeting a man who admired like likes of Debussy, Chopin, and Vivaldi was incredibly intriguing.. and I decided to re-familiarize myself with the moving composer… ha! I know. Trust me. I’m laughing at myself as well…
There you have it. Success/Excess is yet to be decided!
