Because, is ONE ever really enough (ask THREE DOG NIGHT)? I didn’t think so. These are additional photographs taken at the Solana Complex in Westlake, Texas. Choosing the look to submit to the Little Black Dress Tour was very difficult! I like them both.

I think I admire this look in the Ann Taylor Little Black Dress for its simplicity and the possible ease of replication. Keep the dress classic, open it up at the neck, allow it to breath, and add one statement piece (that you absolutely adore).

Isn’t the belt just gorgeous? I love any kind of sea and marine life after spending most of my summers growing up near the ocean and I certainly associate gators with Florida!

Thanks for sharing in my experience with Society Stylist’s Little Black Dress Experiment!

DAY #5 - Society Stylist’s Little Black Dress Experiment Tours America
NONSENSE & SENSIBILITY - HALEY SCHULTHEIS - Dallas, TX
Photo Location: The award-winning Solana Complex– Westlake (Dallas), Texas by internationally acclaimed Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta.

ABOUT THE LOOK
DRESS: Ann Taylor “Little Black Dress”
TANK: Black Lace tank by Rodarte for Target
JEWELRY: Vintage gold chains from the Atlantis Home Collection, bangles from Elements boutique
SHOES: Yves Saint Laurent Iconic Patent Tribute Pump from Neiman Marcus
MAKE-UP: Tom Ford Beauty Private Blend Lip Color in Pure Pink

Because, of course, I can’t do something quite like everyone else, I couldn’t see myself standing in front of an ordinary landmark for my photograph. No, I most always opt for the extraordinary, so I took a trip out to this beautiful complex close to the DFW International Airport for my little black dress photographs.

The Solana compound is a gorgeous award-winning complex by Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta with waterfalls, lush landscaping, vivid colors, and the bold contemporary look for which Dallas is known.

For fall, I was feeling inspired to layer a lot of luxe gold vintage jewelry as I knew it would surely make a statement paired with the Little Black Dress. I piled on necklaces from Dallas’ very own Judy Aldridge of Atlantis Home from the Atlantis Dry Goods Collection.

The best part is, the look is refined enough to go from day-to-night and I wouldn’t hesitate to wear this mélange of accessories to work. Paired with my Yves Saint Laurent patent leather Tribute pumps, I’m confident I would attend my daily meetings in style.

And, with a pop of Tom Ford Beauty’s Pure Pink lipstick, a last minute dinner with friends would not pose a problem.

Hope you enjoy my take on the dress, classic with a twist of vintage glam. I can’t wait to see all of the other looks!
XO,
Haley

My mom finally yelled at me for not posting more often. I know. Sad, but it still has an affect on me. Anyways, I’ve had lots going on this past month. I thought I would go ahead and post a few recent pieces below (and- there are more to come)! Then, I will go ahead and give you a “real” post - or whatever that amounts to at nearly 11pm on a Monday night! Enjoy :)

The lovely Holly Hardison recently had a beautiful birthday party in her gorgeous home in Dallas. Her home is glamorously elegant and of course, very tastefullly decorated! The party was oh so chic and oh so Holly! It was most certainly a soirée for the books and one to take notes from for fabulous parties to come!

love Holly’s chandelier and mais oui, the cake was as delish as it looks…

A popular place for the night…. !

Jill did a wonderful job on the arrangement above… love the colors!

Paige and Holly <3

It was such a fantastic evening, one that I will remember for a long time. I am so lucky to have been able to share this special celebration with Holly. Cheers! (*until next year…!)
INTRODUCING: reFINEstyle.com

I am so honored + EXCITED to be featured on the Member Spotlight column of the luxe new e-commerce website refinestyle.com! This is a truly genius new and innovative way to shop *FROM HOME*!
As a seller, you can upload all of your designer goods easily, efficiently, and beautifully! Just think, that dress you’ve worn twice, but somehow have been photographed in all over Facebook? Let some other lucky lady have her run in it!
AND, as a shopper (the best part), you can personalize your size and favorite designers and it will actually scour the website for you and present your favorites first!
I told you… BRILLIANT.
Check it out and let me know if you know someone that would be GREAT for the next Member Spotlight!
CELEBRATING SEQUINS.
Paige Hardison & I at last week’s “Paws in the City” event at the House of Blues in Dallas. I found quite the occassion to wear my vintage 70’s sequin disco top (which, being honest, I’d wear every day if I could).
With the Sartorialist. (above)

At the Ilori boutique opening with celebrity stylist, Jennifer Rade. Read my SHOOT entry on PinkMemo here!

If this tells you ANYTHING.. it should say that tonight was one of event-hopping. My dear friend Sarah was kind enough to entertain my exasperatingly frenzied schedule and accompanied me to a book signing that was COMPLETELY last minute. We were attending the 2 x 2 for Aids and Art reception for DMA Patrons & Junior Associate members this evening at the stunning Richard Meier designed Rachofsky House and booked it from there straight to the Sartorialist’s book signing at our local Barnes & Noble in Dallas. It was awesome to meet Scott Schuman in person! He is just as I expected: genuine, kind, and authentic.
as I said, MORE TO COME!
Because I am INCREDIBLY tired and my brain can no longer function properly (there hasn’t been an evening in the past two weeks where I haven’t had an event, party, or opening of some sort), I’m going to show some candid (as in often shoddy) photographs of what I’ve been up to lately!
TIBI FASHION SHOW at THE SHAK at STANLEY KORSHAK: 10/16
This was a SUPER cool event. The Shak previewed the Spring 2010 TIBI line at the SHAK with an appearance by designer, Amy Smilovic. PinkMemo’s new intern Paige Hardison and I were able to get a picture with the designer and I snapped some pics of the models. We were there to cover the event for PinkMemo.com. The Blackberry camera just couldn’t keep up with the models (sorry for the blur). My ACTUAL camera just wouldn’t fit in my new clutch.

This was my favorite dress.. just GORGEOUS. The detailing was fantastic.

Hi Haley,
Wow that is a great post, best post ever. Truly. Made me excited that we’re emersonmade! We appreciate the kind words and happy to hear your flower is getting so much love.

Once upon a time, there was Emerson.
I meant to post about this amazing blogger/designer several months ago when my friend Annie (a soon-to-be-famed photographer btw) shared the adorable website with me. I certainly experienced one of those “you had me at the headline” moments, where after seeing just the image & title, I knew I was in love.

Little did I know what fantastic surprises awaited me with every scroll. Emerson lives a charmed life on a beautiful farm and creates and designs all that you see on her blog:
“*i do all the styling+design, all photographs (with my beloved snapper BigR), collages and artwork associated with emersonmade. i work my fingies to the bone! please credit emersonmade and link back. i’ll do the same for you.”

IT BEGS THE QUESTION:

AND THE ANSWER ^.
I wore my very own 7” Red Poppy to Les Femmes du Monde “Woman of the Year” awards event at the Hotel Crescent this past Friday evening. A friend and I went to the Ritz after and I was told, “Oh, so you were at an event. That explains the big red flower.“ No, it didn’t. I’d wear a big red flower ANYWHERE. I don’t need an “event” to wear a large glamorous poppy. I’d wear it to grocery shop at Central Market, to the library, or even just around the house on a sunny day. The event was simply an occasion to wear the over-sized gorgeous pin not a reason. HELLO.
He was just jealous he can’t look like THIS when he grocery shops:

The opportunities are truly limitless… and reasons are not needed.
Champagne + Chickens= Why not?

See? How DARLING is that (and the corsage above)! Here is the outfit I put together the first time I sported an Emerson Made piece on a Saturday night paired with my mom’s vintage patent leather belt from the ‘80’s:

And, HERE is how I wore it when I spoke at the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture Open House event last week:

If flowers just aren’t your thing… she offers some truly lovely place settings. With a table setting so sweet, you just may forget why you are at the table. Thankfully, Emerson reminds you.
And, now, GUESS WHAT? The brilliant dame is making clothing (and savvy dog collars).

EMERSON THREADS. This superb navy & brass blouse is ALREADY SOLD OUT:

GOOD NEWS: this top and skirt are to come… the fantastic of the future.
Well, ‘tis certain that Emerson Made hath my heart. How about yours?

MY DAILY INSPIRATION ^^^.
[YES, I want to someday have a farm with chickens, a horse, a pony, goats, and a farm house sink- if you don’t believe me- ask my mom: janetleeschultheis@gmail.com]

I have always admired the work of DESIGNERS GUILD. I purchased the book PATTERN right after it came out in 2006. The design book has certainly been a wealth of information and has certainly provided brilliant bursts of rich color on the dreariest of days. I love the Designers Guild ability to put together a mix of colors and fabrics that I don’t think I could ever imagine proving to be the perfect complimentary pair. Crushed velvets with silk, ginghams with florals, and satins and plaids, with Designers Guild, the standard equation of excellence certainly doesn’t exist.

Their rugs offer both fun and function. They are whimsical without being busy and bright without being brash. I loved the one below called “Central Park,” it would certainly bring life to the most listless living room.

And, for bright and zestful design, Tricia Guild does not trade quality to qualify. Actually, the fact that there is such attention to quality and detail, is predominantly the reason why it works so well together. Of course, you more than likely couldn’t pair a mediocre electric blue chair with a mundane pale green rug, but with D.G. each exquisite piece provides the perfect pinache and seemingly works with the others effortlessly. It creates a room with character and one you want to keep talking about (*see Darly Birch below).

Don’t doubt the power of paper. I have had a new love affair with wallcoverings lately. I think they can add a lot to a room and give it a warmth that a fireplace just can’t replicate. New papers don’t have to be overpowering, they give the feel of that old English Countryside home and with the current home decor mantra of “anything goes,” you no longer have to match your coverings with your chaise (*below: Portier in Clover, Vionnet in Willow, Whitewell in Dove). I could LOVE and live with almost any single one of their wallcoverings. ‘Tis English elegance at its very best!

Don’t fret my femmes, Guild does not keep us guessing on the grande draperies. Tricia brings all that’s fantastic to fabric. There is even a melancholy elegance that certainly doesn’t lose it’s zest due to the lack of the Guild’s signature punch of color. Clearly, the beauty is all in the details (*below: Margot in Lilac).

Well, as Designers Guild realizes, a girl can DREAM. I know this is a lot of gorgeous to take in, so take a seat in a chair (or on something just like the stunning couch below), order a catalog, and revel in the ravishing.

Ok, so I will admit, BECAUSE I was feeling a little bit guilty about not blogging for a week and also feel the need to share information with you that your more than likely don’t care about, I’ve decided to make a final post this evening on a few of my favorite things which was inspired by … VANITY FAIR.

Let me explain. One of my favorite inclusions in Vanity Fair Magazine is the “My Stuff” contribution (weird- I know). In fact, whenever I receive VF in the magazine this is the very first thing I search for. Literally, I tear off the plastic and start rummaging through the magazine to see who is featured in “MY STUFF.” I guess it is just absolutely IMPERATIVE that I know what the celebrity of the month is using, reading, wearing, where they are traveling, what they are listening to, and what type of sheets they are sleeping on! Some of them don’t really intrigue me, several are obviously wittier than others, but a few, like this one by Ivanka Trump, I LIVE by! Once you start reading them, I promise, you will get hooked as well! The Oct. ‘09 Issue features Blake Mycoskie and just GUESS where Blake lives? “On a 45-Foot Hunter Sailboat in Marina del Rey.” SEE? How many of us can say THAT.
“MY STUFF” : PART 1 : Haley Schultheis

DISCLAIMER: Because I will most probably not be featured in the “MY STUFF” section of Vanity Fair any time soon, I’m writing and publishing a piece myself (which does not have any affiliation to Vanity Fair magazine). Below are the “HOME” and “BEAUTY” sections as the “FASHION” and “INSPIRATIONS” categories deserve a future posting of their own…..

Infusion d’Iris by PRADA.
