Deborah Nadoolman Landis for ARTS & LETTERS LIVE tonight: “Dressed is one book no film and fashion lover should be without.”
Deborah Nadoolman Landis is an Academy Award-nominated costume designer. She grew up in New York City and graduated from UCLA in 1975 with a M.A. in Costume Design. She is married to Director John Landis and the two collaborated on titles including: Animal House and The Blue’s Brothers. She has served as President of The Costume Designer’s Guild and worked on several Spielberg films including: 1941, Crackers, and Mad City. Her excellent work can also be noted in Michael Jackson’s award-winning innovative music video “Thriller.”
Landis received a Ph.D in “The History of Design” from the Royal College of Art in 2003. She is speaking at the Dallas Museum of Art this evening on behalf of her book “Dressed: A Century of Hollywood Costume Design” where she will share “the inside scoop about Hollywood’s most tantalizing costumes and the characters they helped bring to life.” With years of experience and hands-on research, there would not seem to be a more fitting person to speak and educate on this extremely influential aspect of theater, opera, and cinema. Tickets are still available to the public at $30.00, DMA members at $25 and students, senior citizens, and educators at $15.
